Austin man killed in crash

An Austin man was killed in a one-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon. The truck he was driving is shown above. David S. Carver, 40, was traveling southeast on Ky. 87 on Tuesday around 5:40 p.m. approximately 15 miles south of Glasgow when he lost control of his 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup, according to a Barren County Sheriff’s report. The truck left the roadway and struck a tree head on. Carver was taken from the scene by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service and transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for treatment of injuries, where he was later pronounced dead by Barren County Coroner Mike Swift. Carver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor, but the wreck remains under investigation.
