Big Red made an appearance at Western Kentucky University-Glasgow campus Tuesday to kick off the week’s homecoming festivities. Dr. James McCaslin, assistant director of the Glasgow Regional Center, said there has been a homecoming kickoff celebration at the local campus every year since the school moved to the new facility in 2002. Last night was also the official start of the annual “Toys for Toppers” event, according to local WKU Alumni Chapter President Brian Baysinger. More than 1,000 toys have been collected during the nine years of the program, Baysinger added. The Christmas toys are all distributed to children in Barren County, and may be dropped off at the office of Hilliard Lyons, 102 E. Wayne St. until mid-December. For more information about the program, call Baysinger at 651-2663 or e-mail him at bbaysinger@hilliard.com.
